Quality of snow stays very good up to 10' Celsius

Why is it? It is beause of the composition of artificial (also called technical) snow that is often found on the pistes. Most ski resorts are equipped with snow cannons to produce large quantities of snow as soon as possible. All resorts that we use for our trips are equipped with such cannons and thus, there is plenty of snow the whole season.

Even though temperatures may be above zero in Prague and in the lows, higher up in the mountains, there is always lower temperature. At the same time, if the temperature is about 4 degrees, the quality of snow is still very good and it is all the more comfortable to ski in these temperatures.

So trust us - we always have great snow conditions!!

How is technical snow produced?

Technical snow is originally fluid ccomposed mainly of water but there are other chemical substances that make it freeze faster and last longer in higher temperatures.

First of all, water is mixed with the chemical substances. Then, it is pushed through hoses to the snow cannon which is nothing but a spray of water with a great fan at its end to blow it high into the air - see the picture. The water freezes in the air and fall down as snow flakes.

The pile of snow then has to be spread all over the piste by a snow bully.
